Conflict resolution questions

Even though Fantasy Island is primarily geared towards self-driven, ecumenical worship, there will be interactions between the members and CONFLICT is inevitable. Conflict is when a person has unmet needs… in other words you be entirely in conflict without another party.

When conflict occurs, the two common responses are fight or flight. Both of these are sub-optimal because one or more parties remains injured and the “offending” party is none the wiser about why there was conflict. In many cases, conflict creates more separation and less willingness to cooperate/communicate with another party. Conflict resolution is challenge but very rewarding because (when the conflict involves 2 people), you learn more about another party and become closer.

  1. What is your suggested approach to conflict resolution?
  2. When should we escalate a conflict?
  3. When should we de-escalate a conflict?
